We started off the month of March with a small private concert in Oudewater, the hometown of our bassist, Bas. The performance space was a very lovely and intimate venue, with some of the audience sitting both right in front and right beside the ensemble. Preceded by an organ improvisation by Bas’ father (also named Bas!), we performed three movements (I, III, and VI) of the Brahms Serenade and three movements (I, II, and V) of Nonetto by Rota to an audience that has never heard a nonet before. In fact, majority of the audience was new to classical music!
They enjoyed the music very much and the concert proved to be a great success. A wonderful reception with snacks and drinks, provided by Bas’ parents, followed and we all got a chance to talk with some of the audience. Overall it was a very exciting way for our ensemble to begin March, and we cannot wait to perform in Oudewater again on the fifth of April!
